Gerry Takamura
Deputy Vice Principal (Quality Assurance)
Gerry has more than 25 years in senior academic management, focusing on operations, quality, business development and start-ups within post-18 education. Originally working for the British Council in Japan and then returning to work in the UK, she was part of the start-up of INTO at the University of East Anglia.
This was followed by time spent in the Third Sector for social enterprises, moving to Oxford and becoming the Principal of Oxford Business College until 2019. This resulted in the expansion of the College and in gaining first for higher education as an independent provider.
The core to her work remains the student voice and making education available to all. She has extensive knowledge of UK and international education, complemented by four languages and expertise gained from living and travelling internationally.
She has a career across all academic systems, with university partnerships as well as the design and delivery of courses. Previous to joining Lond Churchill College, she was the Chair of the College Oversight Board. In her own time, she is researching and writing about women educators in history as well as encouraging more women leaders in higher education.
